Dead Serious

Brought my pup Princess in the vet for her second check up. She had been suffering from mange. Even worst, it led to alophasia or severe hair loss. So, in the vet she was given two shots of demodex, which is an anti-mange and a shot of vitamin C. But a couple of minutes later her body collapsed and she urinated involuntarily. She had an allergic reaction to the demodex. The vet immediately introduced some antidote and forcefully opened her mouth to resuscitate her. She was so frail that my cousin-in-law and I thought she was already dead. Her eyes went big and her mouth was ashen-white.

The vets were shaking her and massaging her chest but she wasn’t responding. She even had a locked-jaw which made it hard for the air to pass through her mouth and into her lungs. I was just praying and caressing her head.

Several minutes later she was revived. As she gained her consciousness back, we all felt relieved. If the other vet was not present Princess would have died instantly. It was really a miracle that she survived. I don’t know how to forgive myself if Princess died at that moment. Ironically, we were there to have her cured but instead her life was endangered.

So just a warning, if you think of having your dogs injected, ask the vet to have a sensitivity check first and ask for probable side effects and consequences.
