Another Mourning
I've been feeling low lately. My beloved pup died last January 27 because of parvo, a potent and very contagious virus. My vet said that it's one of the deadliest virus that kills dogs specifically puppies. We were even planning to have her confined in the vet for dextrose because she wasn't eating anymore. But even before morning, she already passed away. The virus left her so restless that she can't even close her eyes to sleep. She was continuously vomiting and excreting which were signs of the virus. The thought of her leaves me crying. Even until now I still can't get over her death. She was the cutest, most amazing pup and I'll sure miss her for a very long time. I'm only left with pictures of her for my remembrance.Note: She's not yet dead in the picture at the right. She was just sleeping.www.workingdogs.com: Parvovirus is a viral disease of dogs. It affects puppies much more frequently than it affects adult dogs. The virus likes to grow in rapidly dividing cells. The intestinal lining has the biggest concentration of a rapidly dividing cells in a puppy's body. The virus attacks and kills these cells, casuing diarrhea (often bloody), depression and suppressin of white blodd cells -- which come from another group of rapidly dividing cells. In very young puppies it can affect the heart muscle and lead to "sudden" death.
