The Supreme Court denied the petition by the Vanguards of the Philippine Constitution Inc. to disqualify Estrada. It ruled that the petition should have been filed with the Comelec, the government body that has first jurisdiction over disqualification cases against candidates.
Comelec released its resolution last January 19, 2010. It said, "Let the people decide who will be the next president."
I concur. I am not saying I am voting for Erap this coming election. I am not. I already have my bet. However, I agree that we should let the people decide once and for all whether Erap should lead the country again or not. Otherwise, Erap will keep on running for Presidency every six years and the issue of his eligibility will continue to crop out.
