On June 16, 2010, together with 30 co-employees, I rode the bus to Cagayan de Oro City, braved the calm waters on board Cebu Ferry, and rode the awaiting van from Jagna, Bohol to Panglao Island where we stayed in our humble resort for two straight nights.
The next day, we experienced our day tour with the famous Chocolate Hills as our first destination. Unfortunately, it rained when we arrived. Despite the pouring rain, we still walked the long steps to reach the top where we can see the entire view and beauty of the place. And even though we were drenched we still posed for our jumping shots. Our next stop was the hanging bridge where we have to enter and exit the place only through two long and scary bamboo-made bridges. So if you are a scaredy-cat you have to conquer the bridge not just once but twice.
Our next route was the popular Loboc river. We paid P400.00 and ate at the ferry-like restaurant while it drifted through the deep green waters of Loboc. The place was so green, full of healthy and lushful trees. Afterwards, we visited another famous spot in Bohol, the cute and cuddly tarsiers. I loved one particular tarsier who gamely posed while the visitors took their smiles and warm poses with it. We also passed by Baclayon Church and experienced its old, ancient feel. It was such a beautiful sight. All the old church pieces and the structure really captivated me. We then proceeded to Tagbilaran City as side trip to buy tickets for our trip to Cebu. Then off we go to Hinagdanan Cave where we were met by colorful souvenirs.
On our third day, 9 of us packed our bags and left the rest of the team to go the pier. We rode Weessam lines on the way to Cebu. It was my first time to ride a fast craft and the experience was pleasant. The sea was calm and the weather very fine. In Cebu, we stayed at YMCA because we were on a tight budget. Without resting, we immediately took a bath and invaded the streets of the queen of the south. The downtown district looked like Makati and the Ayala Center was even more beautiful than that in Manila, in my opinion, that is. We first visited Magellan’s Cross which was situated just right in front of their City Hall. Then we paid a visit to Señor Sto. Niño. Afterwards, we went to Ayala Mall where I met with my former law school classmate and friend who was now working in Cebu. He treated me and my other co-worker at Casa Verde, where we had hearty and delicious servings of Brian’s Steak, Ribs with calamari, vegetable salad plus death by chocolate and Michaels choco(?) for dessert. We then proceeded to SM Cebu, a mall far more elegant than what we have in Davao. Afterwards, we met up with the rest of the group at Kartzone in Mandaue City. After our fun-filled ride we decided to visit the famous Edge Coaster housed at the topmost floor of Regency Hotel. It took us so much time to decide whether to ride the coaster or not. But when we finally decided to take the ride we were just bored since we did not tilt the coaster so as to feel the fear and rush of faking a fall. After the ride we decided to go back to YMCA and rested for a while before we took our dinner at Cebu’s Gaisano Mall. Early the next day, we packed all our bags and headed to Mactan Cebu airport for our flight back to our beloved DC.
The 4 nights, 5 days experience were all filled with happy, memorable moments. We are surely happy for this all expense paid vacation.
