Death Part III

I went with my father, two tita's and a cousin to another tita's house because his father has died. He died both from old age and prostate cancer. I guess the cancer was just complicated by his old age. But when I was there I observed that the mood was not really mournful. My tita even laughed with us when we talked about stories from the past. I guess when one dies with old age, there is more of an acceptance. It is often said that it is better that old people die because that way they can rest and will no longer suffer. Some old people even say that they already want to die because they are already tired. I call it luck for these old folks dying at such an age because at least they have lived to see their children's children. My own lola said that she'll be ready to die if she she have seen all of her apo's children or "apo sa tuhod" as we call it here. Isn't that just sweet?
