How Good Jesus Is

Mark 5:25 "Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, (26) and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. (27) When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. (28) For she said, "For only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well." (29) Immediately she was healed. (30) Jesus, immediately knowing that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, "Who touched My clothes?" (33) The woman fearing and trembling came and fell down before Jesus and told Him the whole truth." (34) Jesus told her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction."

Jesus' reaction is amazing. If it were you and me, I am pretty sure we'd react differently than the way he reacted. If power was sneakily stolen from us we'd be irritated, annoyed, or even mad. But seeing, the woman tremble, Jesus even blessed her and wished her peace.

We see this amazing goodness in Jesus again in Mark 5: 22 when Jairus, one of the rulers of the synagogues came and fell at the feet of Jesus. He begged the Lord to lay His hands at his daughter who was lying at the point of death. When Jesus was still speaking other rulers of the synagogue said "You're daughter is dead, why trouble yourself any further?" To this, Jesus said to Jairus, "Do not be afraid, only believe."

Again, how amazing! Instead of scolding those who doubted and believed that the daughter was dead, Jesus just assured Jairus not to be afraid and just believe! He did not pay attention to the skeptics. If I were in Jesus' position I would have immediately lashed at the doubters and proved them wrong!

Mark 25:39-40 And when Jesus entered Jairus' house, He said to those inside, "Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping." And once again the skeptics ridiculed Him. Jesus had put them outside, took the father and mother of the child and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. He took the child's hand and said to her "Talitha, cumi" ("Little girl, I say to you, arise!")

See how good Jesus is! Instead of showing off to these unbelievers what He can do, after they mocked Him, He just let them go outside and performed a miracle on the child in secret with only few people witnessing. Jesus even commanded them strictly not to tell anyone. Unlike us, Jesus works in secret. He is not a showoff, even when He can show to the skeptics, right in their face, how wrong they were when they did not believe that God can heal the little girl. Truly, Jesus is the master of Goodness. Praise you Jesus.

this is a nice post, Lai.

Jesus is indeedthe master of humility. Minsan ang hirap gayahin kasi people will ridicule you and say that you're being fake that sometimes you doubt if what they're saying is true.

Thanks for posting this. (Hann)

hi han, thank u for the reply. it's really important to remind ourselves what Jesus has done and be inspired to do the same despite what others think of us. I always love what one writer has said that GOD WILL BE OUR JUDGE. So, regardless of what other people may think it does not really matter. Only God's opinion matter.
