Flood

It's sad that the places I've been to this past couple of months have been devastated by flood and landslide.

In Manila, it was Saturday when rain and wind started to be felt in the early morning. I woke up early and feeling hungry I invited my classmate to a breakfast at Jollibee which is just right in front of the condo where I was staying. The wind was trying to blow our umbrellas but still we managed to enter the store. The rain was just a drizzle at first. But around three o'clock in the afternoon my friend and I kept receiving text messages that the last Sunday of the bar examination will be postponed because of the heavy downpour which started to flood different areas of the metro. I was even intially angry because I don't want to go through another week studying for the exam. It would have been the last exam and I'll be having my much awaited rest. I complained seeing that the view from my window showed just the usual rain but little did I know that the water is already hip-deep down the streets. I cannot even call for food delivery because the food chains around the condo are all closed. To make matters worst, when I put on the TV pictures showing different flooded areas started to pop out. Only then I realized that the situation is really serious. I felt guilt-stricken seeing people's homes washed out and the people themselves in such pitiful condition.

In Baguio, highways going to the City have been swept by flood and different places in the city itself have suffered landslide. I feel saddened having just visited the place. The people and especially the taxi drivers (unlike in Manila) were very gracious and hospitable. The place, although breezy, gave us a warm welcome.

I just pray that being Filipinos, the Filipino spirit will reign over every victim and they will rise above this havoc and be up in their feet in no time.
